I figured I'd be the unique one out of the entire rest of the site talking about electrics . No really, I'm looking into getting a mid-priced acoustic that is actually worth a darn. i don't want to spend more than 700 dollars and even that's kinda high. I'd like to spend around 500, but we'll see. I had a bad experience over Christmas when I bought an Ibanez AEL20. It looked great and sounded pretty darn good too, but the big problem was that it didn't play well at all, had very sharp fret ends (like, unacceptably sharp), and the 3rd fret buzzed no matter what you played on it. After a few months, the bracing inside started coming apart and I eventually had to send it away to my hometown so I can work on it later. Needless to say, I don't want the same experience. I looked on the Taylor, Martin, Gibson, Takamine, etc. sites and was dismayed by the high prices. I decided to check out the other Ibanez ones and I really like the AEL50, looks nice, has a cool vine inlay and is priced pretty well, and I like the Artwoods too. But I figured I'd ask for suggestions before I whip out the credit card and buy it online. So, let's hear em!

Re: Acoustics

you could go 2nd hand... i know it doesn't sound as good. but acoustics age( the timber dries out giving it a much more sweeter sound) so if you get a $500 old thing it would sound pretty dam good as long as there aren't any problems like bracing rattle and so on. i always see it like this.... a 2nd hand guitar valued at $500 is better than one new and valued at the same price.
