action

firstly like always i want to highligh the fact that this is the best guitar forum ive ever seen, always helped me with all my problems. Now what i wanted to know was how high do you guys like to keep the action for the high E and low B.Ive kept it quite low cuz im learning to shred a bit and play a bit of legato's as well(for which i need a super low action),but i think my current action might be too low i mean it is really easy to play now but the low B seems a bit floppy now and im kinda getting some intonation problems.i live in pakistan so there arent any guitar set up shops here, have to do everything myself, so any advice will be really helpful.Im using the RG 1527 with stock pickups. Thanks in advance.

Check out rich Haris's Ibanez rules banner at the top of the screen and check out his extensive setup run throughs,

I recomend checking your intonation first and taking it from there.

Also as a fellow 1527 user I can tell you now you arn't going to have an easy time getting that action low.

if you use heavy as hell strings on your B '60' or above it isnt going to go low, and if you use thinner strings, you're going to have to get used to them.

it's a great instrument but it requires a hell of a lot of compromise.
good luck mate.

Spike.

i use 9-54's the gauge this guitar came with. You're right about the compromise thingy ,ive put the bridge pretty low now and tho the higher strings are easy to play, the low B rattles like anything.Another thing, the high E seems to be buzzing or something because inbetween the 11th and 14th fret the notes dont ring out clearly (kinda waver).I'm not sure if this has to do with the intonation or if i need a string change,i hope it has nothing to do with the truss rod,cuz i dont know anything about them. How high have you kept the action for your 1527

My action on my 1527 is pretty low, great for doin legato and stuff on. It didnt take me much trouble to set it up either. I got a set of 9-54's on there as well.

And it MAY be a truss rod issue. its no big deal though. I had a question about that one time on my RG7620, took it to my music store, and the guy being as cool as he is, just looked at it, tweaked it and gave it back to me. And that was the problem. he was like 'im not gonna charge for turning a wrench a few times".
