Aftermarket 2027X bridge? - Where to get one?

I'd like to get a custom guitar built by a local luthier and I was wondering if I'd be able to get one of the peizo floyd trems from Ibanez as a part?

How have people here found these bridges? As good as the trem on a JEM?

Thanks everyone

As of today, the Double Edge trem is not available as a separate "part". *There's some body modification/drilling involved when installing it in, say, a standard RG. *Replacements via warranty are available thru Ibanez dealers, but they're not yet being sold separately.

As good as the LoPro Edge? *Well, it *is* a LoPro Edge. :-) *Same exact trem, with custom-built piezo elements in the saddles. *
By far, the coolest piezo trem out there.

I love my Double Edge-equipped guitar. *It's one of my two main players.

You could buy double edge equipped guitar and cannibalize it.

BTW, piezos are nice, but they aren't the holy grail of acoustic tone that they are made out to be. I find that I can dial in similar pseudo-acoustic tones on magnetic pickups. The piezo just makes it convenient to quickly switch to an pseudo-acoustic sound while retaining your magnetic pickups settings. I am sure other people don't agree so judge for yourself.

True Rick, I COULD do that, but that's an INCREDIBLY expensive alternative. Importing a Japanese guitar in order to rip out the trem is a little extreme, even for me When the guitar it's going in is gunna cost THOUSANDS to build in the first place, we've got to draw a line somewhere I'm not a FrankenStrat kinda guy.

You don't get the instant response and the dynamic expression with mag pups though...I don't know about you, but what I'm after when it comes to piezos, it's not to try to mimick an acoustic, it's to create new sounds and enhance attack and definition of the normal mag sound...just some musings...

Xplora,

I understand. Some of us ARE crazy enough to cannibalize an existing guitar in this manner. I keep forgetting some of us (not including me) are sane.

Tsorovan,

I agree. piezo is another nice flavor to add to the tonal palette. And it is somewhat more acoustic in sound.

I'm kinda the new guy here, but this might be more efficient on your wallet, and not have you butcher guitars. I tried the piezo-equipped guitar, and honestly, I got the same sound (minus some mids) using a Boss Acoustic Simulator pedal. Much like the pickup, the pedal really don't sound as acoustic as a real acoustic (obviously), but it did the job in a pinch... Just an idea...

and yet again, that might not be what he wants it for. I'm sure I wouldn't try to use it for that :)

i must add here i have a RG2027XVV and a Boss AC-2 acoustic simulator, the AC-2 is good but not as good as the 2027XVV then again the guitar cost 1049 and the pedal cost 50

So what do you expect ?
