I don't think you'll see that one in any store any time soon

Rich got a great pic of it:

I couldn't help but reading 'FAIL' there in the background

And a limited edition model with a list price of 2666,65 is only possible because it's Indonesian made.

Re: By all that is holy...DOUBLE NECK XIPHOS???

Maybe I'm stupid, but I never got the point of a 6/7 twin neck. 6/12, 7/14, or one set for slide one normal, even some of the monstrosities with bass necks all make sense, but not a 6/7.

+1
What can you do with a 6 that you can't do with a 7?

Actually, there are a few things 6's are better for than 7s. Just not enough to really justify it entirely...

Re: By all that is holy...DOUBLE NECK XIPHOS???

may be the 7-strings part is a baritone
the scale length seems to be longer than for the 6strings part
-> allows low tunings

That would make some sense, but they look like the same scale length to me.

Now, if it was a 6 string and an 8 string maybe it would actually be marketable, but seriously...that is more metal than even my shredder brain can handle...and my feeble human neck!

Re: By all that is holy...DOUBLE NECK XIPHOS???

The 7 string neck is most certainly a longer scale, it's been listed in the specs as 28", and the pictures make it pretty clear that the necks are not the same scale. It's not much of a difference, but the 7 is most definitely longer.

Another possible reason for double neck guitars is to have two very different tunings simultaneously, and if that's why you're doing it, then you might as well go ahead and add an extra string to one of them while you're at it. Having said that, I will also say that the logic behind this makes perfect sense to me for a one-off custom, for example, but I think Ibanez is certifiably insane for making even a semi-production model like this.

OK, different scale length, but that is a really niche market! Bring on the 7/14!

Pretty sure he's well aware of that. Irony is not always easy to pick up on over an Internet forum.
