Alternatives to a RG 570

Hey guys, a friend of mine has a rg 570 and i just fell in love with it when i played it but the closest one i can find is in texas (ridiculous shipping charges on that to get it to georgia), and im new to ibanez's so i was asking your opinions on what would be a good alternative as far as sound and feel go. Im looking for a HSH with an original edge. Thanks in advance.

Re: Alternatives to a RG 570

What he said.

Also, 570's pop up from time to time, and shipping shouldn't be too expensive from Texas to Georgia.

You should be able to find one you like for a price that you're willing to pay. You will probably have the same ordeal trying to find a 550.

Re: Alternatives to a RG 570

I have been checking pawn shops every week or so for the 570 with no luck, from what im seeing on 3bay and guitar center 550s and 770s are a bit heavier priced than the 570s but ill keep looking, thanks for the help.

Re: Alternatives to a RG 570

Did you check classifieds here? I just picked up a 517 (sparkle 570) and feel it was a great deal, even with shipping. There were 2 available in this thread, http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f28/fs...ck-103035.html. Worth checking to see if the black is still available, I would think.

I wouldn't bother if you're looking at the 5XX, 7XX series.

You would be much better off getting a used Japanese 550, etc.

I would wait for something you like to come up on the classifieds here, I don't think you would get more for your money anywhere else. If you don't want to do that I would talk to Rich about what he has in your budget range.

I don't know how Craigslist is where you are at, but around here there is are pretty good deals to be found from people who don't know what they have. I've see a lot of early 90's RGs in the 200 - 300 range.

Re: Alternatives to a RG 570

I just got a RG570 from **** 2 months ago for $235ish with shipping. It was my first one. I like it but it was beat up so I am currently painting it & putting in new pickups. I still like my RG550s with the maple fretboards better sound wise, but if you get a RG550, 560, 750, 760, 770 with rosewood fretboards they all should be just as good or better than the 570. If you want the original Edge remember nothing below the 500 RG series has them (Unless put in and modded after market). If you want a dot fret marker & unbound neck, stay away from the DX models too. As far as the 350MDX & 370DX, well I can't say about the 350MDX, but I have a 350DX (Rosewood instead of maple fretboard) and I have a 370DX coming in. The 350 is a pretty decent guitar for the money and is the reason I got the 370 coming in as these 2 won't get played much but will do for 1 project I need to have way low tuned guitars. These would be great back up guitars for a cheap price or even as a main guitar for a cheap price, but the trems aren't as good as the old edges are.

How ridiculous can the shipping charges be? I just shipped a Les Paul in a case from Chicago to Texas for $25.
