American deluxe strat, "aged pups"

Hi all,

I have an american deluxe strat, and I want to replace the bland sounding mudbucker with a fred, or a PAF pro. The problem is I would really like the pup to be the same color as the fender one is, so it will match the SCN single coils in the neck and middle positions. I was just curious if the cream color dimarzio bobbins are remotely close to the "aged" color of the fender stuff.

Thanks,
Speedy Mcfeely

The colour differs, but not much. You can get custom pickup covers, but they'll cost you extra.

Re: American deluxe strat, "aged pups"

get the cream humbucker. if the colors don't match, fender has a "complete" set of aged plastic parts that you can retrofit all the plastic parts on your strat. pickup covers, switch tip, knobs, backplate and trem tip. all for $20. so even if the the new hum is just slightly different, easy fix! unless i am mistaken, the SCN in the new axes have kind of a pinkish or greenish tint to them. but regardless, buy the hum first.

I think you can buy new pickup covers from dimarzio anyways and just change those out

Smudge a little bit of paint on it and you should be ok...
