Exclamation Another one I've never seen anywhere else...

My local dealer has a really unusual Ibanez guitar that I've never seen anywhere else.

-Vined neck with green vines and 6 on a side headstock like a JEM
-Definite S style body with swirled green paintjob over gloss black - professionally done.
-Black Hardware (tuners, Edge trem and knobs)
-Matching green pickup covers.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I've seen a lot of one-off Ibanez guitars but I can't help but thinking someone took a JEM neck and slapped it onto an S body that had a custom swirl job but it really looked cool.

Now I keep thinking I have to go back there to see how much it was.

Re: Another one I've never seen anywhere else...

Since I assembled and swirled it it is as follows.A 540s body-square heel early 90's.A jem vine black neck that was cut off at the 22nd fret. The neck was already cut off when I found it.There was a thread on here many years ago about a guy who cut off a jem neck and put it on a js chrome body. The members here thought it was somewhat less than striking, myself included.I was in arizona in a consignment shop a few years back and saw a js chromeboy with an aftermarket neck.I thought of that old thread and the owner had the jem neck in his display case.Small world sometimes! I purchased the neck and finally used it on a project.Fun stuff!

This is it!

I have to say, it's pretty cool.

I picked a terrible week to not have tons of money to spend on guitars.

I guess my memory was wrong about the green pickup covers but there was so much green swirl I'm thinking my mind went a bit confused.

Looks cool. Easy to spot what model tho. Black jem head with green vine = 77vbk neck.

Wow! Thanks for posting a picture aliensporebomb. I'm not mad keen on swirls but with that colour scheme, that body shape and that neck... that would be off the wall and into my team before you could say "bank balance"!

That actually only has 21 frets. Interesting nonetheless.

It's at the Burnsville Minnesota location - I think it was pretty reasonable price wise - I'll have to look at the full size jpeg again but I thought it was $699.

Looks like Musicdr is responsible for this guitars existence so....kudos.
