yep.

only 21 frets though. i'd own one if it were 24. you can find a cheap squire showmaster with 24 frets and a floyd. but it's just not the same.

Re: any 22/24fret fender strat with OFR?

so i can swap out the neck?

anyway im looking for a string through body guitar too, and i saw this, kinda appealing to me at evilbay 7377570481. yeah of course i prefer normal plain finish not with those painting, but from what i see from the picture, its a squier, but i cant find any similar models on squier websites. and is there any pickup selector on the guitar itself? or its similar function to "yamaha" one which the pickup selector is with the volume knot?

yeah that's a squier. it says the tone control has been switched out for a pickup selector. there's this on the squier site:

Fender used to make American Special series Stratocaster with either HSS or HH pickups and 22frets with orginal Floyd Rose. They also made deluxe Stratocaster with licensed Floyd Rose, humbuckers and with black pickguard but it had only 21 frets. I believe Fender stopped making them after year 2004.

Re: any 22/24fret fender strat with OFR?

Do NOT purchase those Heavy MEtal (HM) Strats. I've played two of them (one with an upgraded Khaller tremolo system), and they both sounded and played very bad. And not to mention, this one is priced at above $500! I wouldn't have one for $300. If you look in some of the price guide, a mint condition HM Strat should go for about $450 at the max.

The closest thing you are going to get to a "shred" type Strat is a Showmaster. They are really nice, except they don't have 24 frets.

I have to SERIOUSLY disagree with this!!! I have two HM strats and absolutely love them! The build quality is good (both of mine are MIJ) and althought the tremolo isn't as fluid as the Edge on my RG550 it stays in tune just as well and still feels great. I replaced the pickups in both of mine and they sound amazing. The humbucker they come stock with is actually pretty decent though. I've got EMG's in one and a Pro Track and FRED in the other and to be honest they're probably my favorite guitars. Also, were the two you played setup? I've played "great" guitars that sounded like crap without being setup right (proper intonation, etc.) and any HM Strat is going to be 15-20 years old. Sorry if I'm a little defensive but I feel they're being misrepresented.

That's exactly my point. A mint condition HM Strat should go for about $450, not to mention one that's been played and has many signs of use on it. Those would go for about $250-$300.

I know the one with the Khaler was set up properly, because I was watching the guitar tech at the place that had one set it up correctly after installing the new trem.

Well each to his own, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I guess that sounds about right actually.
