Any ESP Owners?

I scored an older ESP Horizon yesterday. It's a neckthrough. 24 fret ebony board with no inlays. Magenta color. Chrome hardware. Jackson style headstock. Sweet, sweet guitar for a killer price! Anyway, it didn't come with a trem bar. It has an ESP floating trem that's not recessed. The trem has the ESP logo under the fine tuners. The bar looks like it's a push-in. The cavity kinda looks like a PRS trem, it has a hex wrench screw that will add tension to the bar. There is also black rubber in the opening of the hole. Anyone know this trem? What kind of bar will fit in it? An Edge bar won't work, it's too fat. I should try a Strat bar and see if that's the right size. Just wondering if anyone knows the right bar for this guitar...

Re: Any ESP Owners?

I have an ESP Mirage Custom, with that same exact trem you describe. Original Floyd style, with ESP stamped near the fine tuners. I found that the pop in bar for the Edge Pro II/III is the exact size, and works perfectly with this trem (the smaller one without bushings). It pops in, and it has a locking screw (located on the side) to keep it in. I went to a local guitar store, and they charged me a few bucks for one.

The trem itself, is great. It stays in tune extremely well. I've also set it up to float a little bit off the body (as opposed to resting it on the body) so that I can pull up about 2.5 steps. It works perfectly well this way also. Good luck with the guitar!

^^^ I also modified the tension screw with a longer, easier access one as you can see. It was much better than the old small recessed one. Easy to find at a hardware store, has the same ends as saddle locking screws/locking nut screws.

Kindred,
Thanks for the info! The Edge Pro II or III huh? Is that a new trem? Older? You didn't get your bar at CG, did you? I could check there for one...

Re: Any ESP Owners?

I actually got the bar at Sam Ash, but you could probably work out a way to get one at Guitar Center.

You might also check with Jason at www.drumcityguitarland.com, I think he has some stock of the old ESP trem parts.

I also have a Mirage Custom, but the stock edge bar was too fat at the tip. I took a dremel and ground the edges of the tip down a bit and everything is now great. These are great guitars - specially the neck thrus.

Re: Any ESP Owners?

Other than the JS 1000BP, my other Holy Grail guitar would be the ESP Viper Standard.

Re: Any ESP Owners?

That could be the same arm holder that the Gotoh Floyd uses, allparts stock the Gotoh bar.

A wilkinson Bar ma also fit...

Nice Score!
