Any jemsiters Using EMG's in a 1570?

Are any of you guys using EMG pickups in your 1570's or similar guitars.

if so how to they sound and respond to the Basswood bodys.

I curantly have some 85's installed in an alder bodied pacifica.

Cheer's for any info,
Spike

I have EMGs in one of my 520QS's, stock pickups in the other one. I actually like the one with the stock pickups better, it's very bright and mean sounding. However, that guitar is, for some reason abnormally heavy (in terms of physical weight.) I haven't weighed it, but it is definitetly noticeably heavier than all my other Ibanez's, so that may have something to do with the tone I get out of it. Maybe the wood it's made of is just super- abnormally dense or something. The one with the EMGs sounds darker, and plainer, and doesn't have the cutting high end of the heavy one. I'm talking about the bridge pickups here, I don't pay too much attention to neck pickups, to be honest. Not to say the one with the EMGs sounds bad, just the other one sounds spectacular. I should mention those are mahogany bodied guitars BTW, but otherwise very similar to an RG(1)570.

I have EMG's in my RG3120 and an RG570. They're great for metal. 81 in the bridge and 89 in the neck.

Here're the twns:

I know I said I didn't use the neck pickup much, and look at that top guitar, with the switch in the neck position. But you know what? That switch is wired backwards. (Don't ask why.) Also I dinked with the image on top so you could actually see the wood for once. It really looks more like the one on the bottom -- really really dark.

Looks quite blueish lol.

V.Sexy, something about covered black Pickups I always love lol.

Do you think an 85 would be better from a clearer top end in the bridge?

It worked pretty well on my PAC112

You might be like me, I find the EMG-81 to lack any real character. Just seems very sterile with no personality. Try the EMG-85, I like that one in the bridge much better than the 81. It just has more midrange growl and bite. Of course, I am in the minority on this one, but it can't hurt for you to try it out and let me know what you think.
