Re: anybody have the RG655?

It's simply a great guitar. I think dollar for dollar it's tough to find a better new guitar, and certainly a better Ibanez.

I owned a 655 that Rich had setup. It is a fantastic guitar. I agree with daylight, it is exactly what it should be, today's RG550 if you will.

Re: anybody have the RG655?

I've played 2 of them in stores. They feel, sound, and are priced great. The only thing that kept me from buying is no justification for another 6 string.

Gear:
RG 2550 w/ evo2 breed neck
SZ520 paf pro neck stock bridge
RG920 Premium
Jem7V-WH
Marshall Haze 15

Re: anybody have the RG655?

I bought a 655 GK last year and its a fantastic guitar. The neck is superb indeed. The lead socket is rock solid, the pickgaurd is flat and solid, the whole guitar feels very stiff and rigid and the tuners are excellent.

One negative point: the trem bar socket has come loose twice. I don't have the correct spanner to tighten so I used pliers so maybe thats the reason.

Loktite Thread Locker. Great stuff.
My 550's trem bar kept coming loose as well. Put some of that on the threads, tightened it up and it hasn't moved since.

Re: anybody have the RG655?

Fantastic guitar. Not gonna lie, when I first picked it up it felt different than i was used to with other RG's. Because of that, I almost confused that for feeling "cheaper" but I was wrong. It is the real deal and a very solid player. Not meant to sit in the case, and as for being comparable to an RG550, I would say RG655><RG550 lol. I love them both. Mind you >< is not intended to be the same as =.

Re: anybody have the RG655?

Took the plunge and bought the RG655 FSO just now. Guitar feels and sounds great.... and at an amazing price. Since the 655 was bought to be a basher instead of my JEM7V, it is bothering me a little that the action wont go as low as the JEM without buzzing, no matter how hard the shop tried in setting it up. (It is low but not AS low) Any ideas? (Please tell me its just the shop's technician who is not good enough to set it up).

definitely your shop tech is suck.
measure the action between fret 12 low E and the string, how many in mm is it now?
my 655 coming out of the box was 2mm, and I'm able to make it lower with minor adjustment in seconds, but 2mm is about the right amount to me, so I'll let it be.
