I have a near mint Alvarez Dana II. Same guitar, minus the scoop. Nice playing guitars.

Re: Anyone got a Dana Scoop?

Never seen one in person, saw plenty in guitar mags back in the day, always wondered if they were any good?

Rock on!

Re: Anyone got a Dana Scoop?

Neck was not great. Just budget level MIK. On par with Arias Pro II's or any other beginner level guitar you'd find in your mom & pop music shop. I ended up keeping the Floyd (which I added on there to replace the original bridge o' crap) and sent the body to someone here who bought another guitar from me. Not like I paid a lot for it originally.

Re: Anyone got a Dana Scoop?

I remember those guitars when they were new in the shop (I was in middle school at the time). I can't remember if I liked them that much. (I think I hated anything with a lacquered or varnished neck...it's satin finish or bare wood for me)
Were there two models, like a premium one and a budget version ? I think they were there at the same time Washburn had their extended range guitars with 29 frets or whatever, and I might be mixing up my playing impressions of the two :P

Re: Anyone got a Dana Scoop?

The Washburn was the Spitfire with either 29 or 32 frets and a Stephens cutaway.

N/P dude. I have since found out that they also came in a 36 fret model. The 29 and 32 frets were MIJ and the 36 made by Stephen Davies in Seattle. The 36 had a monkey grip.

Yeah, kind of jonesing for one now.

yeah, I saw the EC36....that's crazy, having an extra octave (at least on the high E string), I can't imagine my fingers fitting very well. Although, I guess if people can play violins with their close upper range note spacing, you can probably do something with a guitar way up there :P
