Anyone have a 2020x?

Not sure if this belongs here or in the pickup section.

Anyway, I recently put a Crunchlab in my 2020x only to find that it's way too tall for the bridge cavity. I was able to reduce some of the height on it by taking two of the screws that hold the metal base on the bottom of the pickup off.

Here's how it was before I did that:

Notice how high I have my bridge just to clear the pickup. Right now with the two screws off it's usable but the output is way too much as the pickup is only about 2mm under the strings.

Anyone else have this problem? I've searched everywhere and haven't seen any other complaints about this. I think my only option is to route the pickup cavity lower, but I don't really want to do that. I can't cut off the legs of the pickup either because there's still a wooden block in the cavity that'll prevent it from getting too low.

To be fair, it's not the Crunchlab that doesn't fit, although it is a bit taller than the stock pickup. When the stock pickup was in there, I always noticed it was a bit too high but never really payed any attention to it. Well now I know why.

Re: Anyone have a 2020x?

DiMarzio has two different heights available for the F-spaced CL. one is .88 inches (7/8") and one that is .982" (about a 16th taller) you probably have the taller of the two, not that having the shorter would help you much.

Take your guitar to a qualified tech (not Guitar center) and they'll recess the route a little more for you. it shouldn't take long and be pretty inexpensive to do. Honestly...I'd charge you $30 for the route, $10 for a set of strings, and another $20 for the setup....$60 and your out the door. prices are considered high around here.
