very early J custom, probably RG 1702 or 1802.

Re: Anyone know what model this is?

Yes looks like a J Custom RG 1712RV. Mahogany with a quilted maple top,Lo-pro edge etc. Nice old one. Congrats. Give her some TLC and she'll be fine.

Good call there Magnus. Super cool guitar, not often you see those pop up.

It's off to have the frets polished/dressed and set up. After that it will be listed for sale. Contact me if you are interested.

Re: Anyone know what model this is?

"Jake"... Upon further inspection of the guitar (didn't take too much I guess) and a little poking around on here. The J-custom I got from you is actually a KRG1502, just as it is stamped in the neck pocket. I thought as well that it was a 1712 till looking up the difference between a 1712 and a 1702. The 12 is the quilted maple top, the 02 is flamed maple @ 4 mm. Made sense once I took the neck off and saw the stamp. The top is amazingly thick (7mm) and is flamed maple. The thing is, and maybe someone can help here, the jemsite run down of J-custom models shows a 1502M, but no 1502. Also, What is the "blocklock" that they are referring to on the 1502 models?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Anyone know what model this is?

That list of J customs on the jemsite page isn't 100% accurate and doesn't also include all J customs !! No idea about the block lock, but Im thinking that refers to maybe a trem blocker of sorts ??

Re: Anyone know what model this is?

Flame maple that is of course. The Block lock you're talking about must be the plate you lock with 2 screws on the underside of the trem block. Where the springs is connected into the block.

Re: Anyone know what model this is?

You did .... Maqify threw me off once he posted and I looked it up here.
http://www.kessier.com/2009/ing/Jcustom.html

It fits the decription of the 1702 actually, but the top is thicker. I just had gotten tunnel vision there for a bit... Sorry bout that.
