Anyone own or play an Agile?

Namely the "interceptor" model.

These things look absolutely stunning, but that doesnt mean much if they dont play well (*cough cough carvin cough cough*)

thinking about scratching my 7 string AND bright green quilted maple top itch at the same time...

carved top, ebony finger board, no inlays, green quilt, active pickups (on a 7 string, Id probably prefer that), and OFR... Seems like a pretty solid deal for 700 bucks...

Agile's are great instruments for the price and as a happy owner of the 8 string version of that same guitar you can't go wrong.

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

i heard theyre good for the price but the trem is a bit weak and they need a fret job. SO IVE HEARD. ive never actually played one but i bought one once (they forgot to check the inventory so they never sent it. i got my money back though). but id buy one. id put in blackouts though. i hate EMG's. too fake sounding

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

They used to have a store in New Jersey that I visited on occasion, and frankly I thought they were all very mediocre. You do see a lot of nice things written about them on sevenstring, but I don't know how much experience with top shelf guitars a lot of their owners have. In general though, Korean guitars are far superior to what they were 20 years ago, so there's that as well.

If I really wanted one, I'd try and go used so I wouldn't lose to much cash if any should I decide to flip a month or two later.

They may say nice things on SS.org but look how many you see in the classifieds over there lol..

I dunno I bought an Intrepid 828 Pro in the Oceanburst. I paid $400 for it. I sold it the day after I got it. In all honesty it felt like they simply swapped bridges out on a 5 string bass and made it an 8 string guitar. That was just my experience.

At the same time, regardless of where or who built it, the ingredients are all there. The Intrepid I had was built solidly, it just played like crap.

Check the classifieds on sevenstring.org. You see tons of Agiles..

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

I actually own an Interceptor Pro 725
It's a nice, solid, well designed guitar, nothing really bad to say
except the "painted" neck I don't like.

but no flaws or problems with the bridge
the EMG707s do the work perfectly

My dream at Rondo's is a Interceptor (not Pro) (= bolted neck) 827

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

Darn. painted neck is kind of a deal breaker.

They sound really "mediocre" lol I REALLY wish stores around here carried them. Played a 7 string schecter and I about threw it across the room in anger lol.

I cant believe I used to think schecters were awesome guitars lol

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

I bought one of the neck through 8 strings and it was unplayable out of the box, after having fretwork done it wasn't the worst guitar I ever owned, but I didnt keep it long.

Current USA made Schecters are supposed to be awesome, as they are all California 'custom shop' type instruments. Old school early 80's (made by Tom Anderson, Rudy Pensa, and John Suhr) Schecters are all basically legendary guitars but pretty rare these days. The modern Korean Schecters (the overwhelmingly vast majority of all Schecters) are just run of the mill Korean guitars in my opinion. I personally would not buy a Schecter or an Agile.

Re: Anyone own or play an Agile?

They are an inexpensive Korean made guitar. There maybe diamonds in the rough but I wouldn't want one. They don't even have a website. lol
