Anyone with an rg520?

Found a sweet deal on the CL for one, just wondering what people have to say about it. I cant, for the life of me, see why it wouldnt be another "ibanez classic". its a purple colored quilted sapelle and its absolutely stunning. Just wondering what people think of it.

Thanks!

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

Pretty much the same as a 550/560/570, except for the top and lack of middle pickup. They never came in purple, so if you saw any pictures, it could've been the lighting. These came in brown and blue. They are fine guitars, but came out later than the rest of the 500 series--that probably accounts for lack of classic status. They also sport the Super Wizard neck with bubinga stripe.

Yeah, Im more of a H H guy anyway! haha. Its DEFINITELY purple now haha probably just faded finish now Its ok though, I dig purple like you do! Has a mahogany body as well, which is awesome. Im probably gonna pull the trigger, the parts are worth more then what hes selling it for anyway haha

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

If you can get it for $400 or less, I'd do it--depending on condition.

Just make sure it's not a 320, because they came in purple I think.

520QS didn't come in purple as far as I am aware so indeed be careful.

Good point! The 520 should have an Edge or LoPro Edge, so that will be the tell-tale sign.

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

Oh nah, it doesnt look like that purple at all. It really looks like a faded blue, has bubinga striped neck, and should be the real deal as far as I can tell

good looking out though! thank you guys.

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

Correction: Mine is a '99 model. Another thing I noticed is that they didn't offer purple for the QS models. They offered Trans Blue finish for 99, 00, and 01. You should get a pic of the back since it's mahogany and will be easy to determine. That and the trem will be the major factors

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

the blue one has a tendency to fade to green, and the brown tends to fade to a purplish color. so it's probably the brown one.

F**kin' awesome guitars...... the most overlooked, underrated RG of all time. I think they ran from 98-01 and all had an OE.... but I'm not positive about that. Also the only guitar that I think sounds better because of the pickup rings......... but that's just me.

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

That one should have an Edge tremolo and V7 and V8 pickups. I have one and it's a wonderful guitar.

Re: Anyone with an rg520?

DOOOOOO IIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I got excited. I actually, for me personally like it more than i think I would have liked a 550. The neck splits in the second position so It's a lot warmer then the middle. but it also has that snappy "in between" tone in pos 4. Neck is very very nice with the bubinga stripe, looks and plays great! Ryc is right about the fading, mine is blue and has a bit of green in the figuring. The mahogany tone is a great change too, sounds sweet! It has the OE and of course the locking studs, same as the 550/570.
