AX7521

I just rescued this 99 model ibanez from a pawn shop for 95 bucks with a new set of strings. The pawn shop had about 150 guitars but only this 1 lone ibanez in the whole place lol.

Did i get a good deal? Apparently it sold for around 400 new. It has about a inch scratch on the body. Nothing a well placed sticker could fix but i hate stickers lol.

Re: AX7521

What i would like to do is make a original 1 off ibanez guitar that no one else has. Id love to find out what other ibanez necks will fit the body. Id love to slap a tree of life neck on it. There is plenty of room to cut out for a single pickup on the guitar I doubt many if any has done that to this guitar. Id consider a newer better bridge off a newer 7 string if the swap aint too hard. idk about paint atm but it would be cool.

Re: AX7521

Sounds like a good deal to me.

You probably won't find an off the shelf neck to fit it though. Any work would need to be custom.

Re: AX7521

I don't know if he does this anymore, but I had a custom neck done by luthier Mark Johnson in Cotati, California. He does really great work. His stuff is worth every penny.

Re: AX7521

That's the Japanese one, there was an AX7321 that was Korean. Those are nice, and despite the 24 3/4 scale I never found the B floppy on those. I would keep my eye out for a set of Blazes and upgrade that puppy

Re: AX7521

Am i wrong or dose the AX7321 look more like a rg than a ax??

Ok guys what i want to know is what u guys would do to this guitar? What pickups would u use? Would u modify anything? Would a newer better bridge work? Will any other cooler better necks fit it? I want a cool inlay lol.. Give me some suggestions guys plz i want to make this the best 7 sting around lmao..

Another question here too, see alol that space between the pickups looks like plenty of room to cut out for another pickup. Would this be a good ides? It sure would make the guitar unique. And that's what i want, i want it to be different special and unique lol.

Re: AX7521

I would Blazes in it, and leave it as is. I wouldn't consider swapping the neck, not sure where you would find one even. It's mahogany, so keep that in mind when you choose replacement pickups.

Re: AX7521

a buddy of mine had a Cherry Fudge AX7521, and it was killer. One of the best playing guitars i've ever played, actually. We sanded it down to the bare mahogany and gave it a tung oil finish, and it looked incredible!
