Beat up J-Custom RG1680. What's it worth?

Hi all,

I've found a J-custom RG1680 (I think its TW, looks the same as my RG3120TW) the front is OK and the neck seems to be in fair condition, but the back of it... its like its been malested with a metal dildo! Chips and scratches all over it. The bridge pickup also is a standard spaced d'activator so the strings don't line up properly. It needs quite a bit of work to get the finish back up to standard but I don't mind a little project (especially 1 that is worth the time and effort) due to the state of the back I'm guessing the frets need some attention also but who knows yet.

Whats it worth do you think? I can get it for $900 AUD but a as new 1 went for $1150 on ebay not too long ago and that thing was mint. I'm keen for a project but I don't want to get ripped off either.

Cheers all for the help!!!

Being in Australia, I don't think you're going to find a J Custom any cheaper, let alone a RG 3120 or even lower spec-ed Prestige! Is it on eBay, or classifieds? If Classifieds see if you can bargain a little. If the hardware and neck are in good nick it's probably a reasonable deal.

Thanks lads! I think he just sold it after my post for $1100 the hardware was beat up and pitted but the neck was ok... Ill find another 1 day & IMO he wanted too much (It was the one that sold for $700 aud a while back) he didn't do anything to it so I think 700 would have been the right price for it. Ill keep searching. Another 1 will pop up again sooner or later in better condition for the right price. My minty RG3120TW will keep me well and truly occupied till then .

Cheers for the help!
