Best "bang for the buck" ibanez 7 string?

I'm looking to complete my ibanez collection with a nice 7 string. I would like to hear from the Jemsite gang on what Ibanez 7 string (fixed or trem) you think is best bang for the buck as far as sound, feel, craftsmanship and playability.

I currently have a 7320 and am looking to upgrade that.

I'm a total ibanez guy but am open to here anything non Ibanez as well if you have something in mind :-)

Thanks ahead!!

Used rg7421/7621. There's no real contest here as far as ibanez is concerned haha.

As far as Indo guitars go, RG7420, MIJ RG7620 or a good old white Universe being my old fav.
But now we have the NEW JEM 7 string out for a lot more cash!

Well, specifically addressing the "best bang for the buck" criteria, I would say a used UV777BK. For whatever reason, those guitars fetch around $1,000 for one in really great shape. And a UV is a lot of guitar for that money.

True story here.

An rg7620 is a universe without the bling. So best bang for your buck ibby 7 is an rg7620. My favorite all time 7 necks also.

Lot of people ignore the fact that 97-98 7620s have a uv neck as well lol. Truly awesome machines, just missing cool inlay, middle pup and binding haha

Exactly. And also, food for thought, 7420's have 7620 necks.

So op, if your not a floating trem guy, here's your best bang for your buck deal

Either get a rg7620 and deal with the trem or block it off,

OR

Get a rg7420 and block the tremolo. The pups could be replaced if you choose, as they are the Ibanez v series, but IMO they don't sound bad at all!

OR if you dont like trems get a 7621, which brings you right back to my first post haha.

The 7420's only had 7620 necks for the first 2 years they were out. in 2000 they got their own neck.

Are you sure? I thought it was for longer than that? Hmmm.

Also, so those 7621's and 7421s play as well as the other versions?

Positive. The 7400s got a super wizard type with a skunk stripe, the 7600s stayed one piece.

As far as the hardtails, I almost prefer them. Never really cared for tremmed 7s. The feel will be similar, same necks just hardtail nut.

I will probably pick up one, they're for sale pretty often locally. It'll be nice to change timings with a 7 for once without a problem!
