My budget is around $500-750 and I'm looking for the best Ibanez for that price, thanks.

I'd go for a second hand RG500 to 700 series (depending on what pickup configuration you like) with a bit of cash left over for new pickups or a pro setup.

Good call on the 2nd hand RG but if you really want new the RGA42T I reviewed recently was a nice base guitar that could be easily upgraded. Search my site and watch the demos.

Re: Best Ibanez for $500-750?

If you want new, a just picked up a rg470na ash model...nice tone from the ash body, cool looks, few upgrades and you've got a little "different" rg than the basswoods...
PS, personally up against my basswood rg, the ash tone is cooler for sure...Sassier, more expressive to your picking.
A used mij is also a great choice, but be careful about fakes and beaters, or "homemade hybrids"
Rock On...
Got a few pics in the gallery under other ibanez 6 strings...

i agree with the second hand MIJ models, you wont be disappointed. if you want a hardtail go for the SZ series, you can pick up an SZ520 for cheap. if you want a non locking trem there are some RT series out there and if you want locking trems there are about a million of those on the bay. i would try and snag one cheap and do a pup upgrade and set up. that way you can essentially have what you want and it will sound phenomenal!

Used (obviously, it's from beginning of 90s) RG 550 or 770...

+1 for second hand RG550 or RG570. You might even be able to find a recent RG2550 or RG1570 on the used market for about $700.
Good luck!

If you want a fixed bridge, RGA121's flow through online places on a regular basis and they are outstanding guitars.

But, like the others said, if you want a trem, get a second hand RG or S in the p/u config of your choosing.

Even the ones from the early 90's hold up very well if the past owner gave it a little TLC from time to time.

Yeap, i will go for an used S Series, or RG550. I wont recomend a signature series unless you're a badass fanatic :P

Re: Best Ibanez for $500-750?

The question is very broad. I suggest consider your Music genre. It will all depend as well on your music style. If your into Shred and Rock also some Jazz music go for the S and the RG series these guitars are very versatile and equip if your to straight Jazz check the Artcore series. And if your the type of guitarist thats into quality for your money get the Japanese made Ibanez. You cant go wrong with your budget. Happy Hunting.

Re: Best Ibanez for $500-750?

If you're patient with the used market, you should be able to find an RG3120 for $700. Used RG1550's are a dime a dozen for $500.
