What year is your MIM? The new ones have a steel block and aren't bad. Even Callaham will tell you floating a vintage trem is a recipe for bad tuning stability, even his own part. I have an 09 MIM with the steel block and just added a couple of springs and set up the trem flush with the body. IMO a better nut and good tuners are a more worthwhile mod than a new trem. I added a Tusq nut and locking tuners and with the bridge not floating with 5 springs it rarely ever goes out of tune.
My Mexican strat was made in 2004, so I'm unsure of the block material.
I already have sperzel locking tuners on the guitar, so that's not the issue.
I just wanted a trem upgrade like I always do with my Ibanez guitars.
My only stipulation was to not have the body rerouted in any shape.
Doesn't Fender have the equivalent to Ibanez's trem upgrades?
( Lo-pro above the EdgeIII trem option?) I find it hard to believe that
the current trem on my cheap Mexican model is the BEST Fender has to offer
their customers, or any other 3rd party vendor. Somebody has to make a better
sounding/playing trem for a price. Forgot to mention that the trem can not be a two
point system like a floyd knife edge system.
Thanks for responding!
