A bit of a bind...

ok heres my delema I've had my UV for a short while now, and its a GREAT guitar but 7's arent my bag theres limited stuff I can play on it and none of my friends own or want a 7 string. This kind of leaves me alone in the 7 string world. Here's where the real bind comes in I ran across a guitar I like (the alexi laiho LTD) yes yes LTD, I like it, Its feels GREAT IMO and looks awsome in my eyes. and I found it for a good price. I'm now contemplating selling my UV and getting a LTD Alexi Laiho and with the cash left over I dont know buy a pickup or a iPod you know and call it a day. I want to know if anyone here has a real UGLY review on the laiho model. if no one does, expect to see a FS ad soon.

Re: A bit of a bind...

If your not happy with the UV, then sell it. Dont let anyone on here tell you otherwise. Because I know what people will tell you. You'll get "the UV is much better than a rubbish LTD model, dont do it". I say, do what you feel is right. You obviously dont want the UV anymore so get rid of it. Theres no point keeping a guitar you dont want to play. At least get a guitar you will be inspired to play more often.

I really like the LTD models, and more often than not they are exactly the same as the ESP models material-wise and spec-wise. So I say definitely go for it. I will definitely pick up the LTD Ninja (Michael Amott) guitar when I get some spare cash.

Whatever you do, dont keep the UV just because people like it on here. If your not happy with it personally, sell it on and get something you really like and will enjoy.

+1 !! great way of putting it man and the LTD has a orginal floyd rose and thats a major step up as opposed to the liscend POS trems.

Re: A bit of a bind...

Take a look round on the ESP forums too. Quite a few guys own the Laiho LTD models on there now, and they do look damn sweet. I like going to the ESP forums just to look around at some of the cool guitars. Some of the guys on there have some serious collections.

I get a chuckle at how they treat their 'noobs' there.

oh alot of people notice, I juist cant jam with any other 7 stringer's (cause no one else has one) so it makes it hard to really make some 7 string music

Re: A bit of a bind...

I'd highly recommend a Creative Zen player. Last time I checked you can get a 80gb Zen, which will last you longer than an iPoD and you can actually get accessories for them that you can't get with an iPod, for the price of a used 20gb iPod.

I made the mistake of getting an iPod, and now I wish I waited until I learned about the Creative Zen players. Plus iTunes is the biggest piece of ****... even with the newest top of the line program, that program is an absolute dog and waste of resources, even when it's not running.

Re: A bit of a bind...

Godfather,..

THANK you so much for what you said about not keeping something because of peer pressure.

Same thing here, i have a slightly modded Prestige Rg1550, bought it in 04', and well, i was all bout shred-music,.. well everyone around me was,..

Ha,.. but when all the hype died down,.. graduated highschool,. moved away,.. I noticed that I didn't like it. Went to a dealer nearby, picked up (for the heck of it) a fender 60th Anni strrat,...

OH,.. MAN,, my hands just felt so darn comfortable,.. I fell in love,.. can't believe it took me this long to realize I'm a fender man,.. well, at least when it comes to necks.

I still shred, but I think I'll buy a Carvin DCXXX for those purposes. MY RG's neck proved to be too wide and thin for me (to the extreme, lol).

Its funny, back then I thought the thinner the better. Not for me at least.

Thanks again Godfather,.. you made me do it, You'll soon be seeing the RG in the classifieds.

Oh, and sorry for blabbing on.

I love to shred. I play in a cover band that dictates I play Floyd -trem guitars.
That is lots of fun, but hidden away in my studio is my '60 Custom Shop Strat in Shell Pink.

I've been playing almost 40 years straight and I've owned way too many guitars over the years- hundreds - and this pink Strat is head and shoulders above any other guitar I've owned...ever. Period. No contest.
I can't even explain to you how this guitar sounds, feels, plays.....
you know, they say if you keep going through lots and lots of ANYTHING, you will find one that stands out from the rest- well this is that guitar.
I love my UV77MC and my PRS hollowbodyII and my original 1968 Strat, but nothing touches this pink one - it's truly magical and non-musicians even comment on the damn thing. THEY notice it's different!

Re: A bit of a bind...

Nice guitar,.. yeah, some guitars just have that mojo,.. and i used to believe all that was crap.

I love the color. In the future all my guitars will probably be Warmoth strat stuff.

And instead of Gibsons, I'll prob get California Carved tops,.. because they're cheaper than PRS, and scale length is longer/better than Gibsons les pauls.

I wish I could play your guitar right now!! Even for a few seconds. I'm sure its fenomenal.
