Blank RG505... thinking of a maple top on in

Hello guys!

I have a RG505 that had many scratches and the paint was in bad shape, so i sanded it down, i have less than 10 post, so i can`t upload an image yet.

I like the way maple tops looks, so i`m thinkging on putting a 1 or 2 mm one.
I haven`t been able to find any RG550 or similar with a maple top on the web.

Since my idea is to replace the pickguard with it i think i need to find a way to put the volume and tone control, switch and pickups on the maple top.

I tried to stain it, but didnt like the way it looks, so i sanded it down again.

Also, i went the maple top and stain way because i don`t have a compressor to paint it and neither have the space to put one and paint with it.

Any ideas, opinions and such are welcomed!!

Cheers!

You will not be able to get rid of the pickguard all together. There would be no access to the electronics if you did. You'll either have to find a rear route body (RG570FM comes to mind) or veneer the body with the maple of your choice and put on a new pickguard made of the wood of your choice.
