Today I played a 2K$ EBMM Steve Morse. I got to admit....holy POOP what a great guitar! I had never played one before, never really gave them any thought.

I dont find them all that much to look at (shape seems dated, however it had a beautiful birds eye [unfinished] neck and killer quilt) but an amazing player....and tone...out of this world. The guitar was very balanced in every respect.

In truth with my eyes closed there are things I liked about this guitar more then the Jem. (*IMO the Jem is the finest 'players' guitar built). Oddly enough it had sort of a Jem feel (cant really explain it).

All I am saying...if you get the chance try one. I have been saving some coin to buy a Jem....but this guitar is REALLY hurting me!

Oh, and as much as I hate to admit it....I like it much better then my 4K$ PRS!!!!

Re: blasphemy

i don't think there are many guys here who aren't fans of the EBMM guitars. It might be a different faith, but it's not blasphemy

Re: blasphemy

EBMM's have smaller string spacing and a narrower neck. Many people prefer that. Some people even refer to EBMM's as a "gateway drug". Once you find one you love, your whole collection becomes EBMM's....or something like that. lol.

Re: blasphemy

Sold my EBMM JP6 last year and have to agree....They play better than most. I really regret selling it. I just had issues with the trem and that spoiled it for me. The J-custom I just picked up is awful close though...

Re: blasphemy

i love the morse model and have been lucky to play a couple of different ones. They are a hard model to find or at least in my experience but i have liked them all. Both the older and newer are awesome

Re: blasphemy

That's always a great brand. The only real competitor in bread and butter heavy metal guitar market is ESP and Schechter.

Gibson, Fender, PRS, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and Parker Fly just don't have the viral popularity that Ibby, ESP, and Schechter have in the newer metal. I am sure Ernie Ball makes a great metal guitar, but they aren't in that field so much so they are not serious competition so I don't see the blasphemy there.
