blaze custom vs custom 7 (also called NEW 7)

does somebody knows if the custom 7 and the blaze custom (wich came out in 1998 acording to dimarzio ) have the same caracteristics or not ?
outputs , frequencies ...
to me it seems very strange that the custom 7 and the blade custom came out the same year ( if i am right) and one is available on many guitars , while the other is only available at dimarzio !

last question : is the custom 7 one of those pickups that ibanez calls today ibz/dimarzio ?

thanks for any help !

nooooo the blaze custom is much different/better than the ibanez/dimarzio product (IBZ?). its based off teh blaze but it has a more present midrange and bass and an output of 410 mV, closer to the EVO 7, its great for soloing and really makes your chords heavy and meaty

well the custom 7 is not an ibz/dimarzio but a "real" dimarzio (juste like the dimarzio bridge pickup made for the AT 300 ) .
that s why i was asking !!!

I think the confusion is being caused by the wording. I believe you mean the pickups used in the RG-7620? In which case they're the "New 7" pickups, which I believe were made for Ibanez by DiMarzio, so they simply listed them as "DiMarzio New 7". (Note: These pickups have been called a few things, but around here we know them by the current "New 7" name)

Yea, I think they were originally called the Custom 7, but they changed the name so they wouldn't be confused with the Blaze Custom, because they are very different.

From what I've read the New 7 bridge is more based on the Super Distortion pickup...? The neck was supposedly PAF-ish I THINK

You're kidding me! That means that a stock 7620 already has basically the perfect pickup combination for me

Well, don't quote me Two Hands! I'm not positive... let's say I'm 70% sure about the bridge/super distortion, but only about 50% sure on the neck/PAF. Hopefully someone (Rich) who knows will post.

Oops... had to edit. I wrote "hoefully" instead of "hopefully." Poor Rich would've thought I was trying to insinuate something about his character.

A little late for not quoting, but I'll definitely look into it more before I decide for sure that it's the best pickup combination for me.

I have the Blaze Custom/Blaze Neck in my UV and this without a doubt my favorite 7-string combo. I love the Evo7, but the Custom is richer and not quite as trebly, a better tone to my ears. Of course, my guitar is Basswood, people with mahogany 7s seem to love the original Blaze Bridge, a great pickup as well. DiMarzio owns the passive 7-string pup market as far as I am concerned, plenty choices.

i went to the dimarzio site and could only find info on Blaze, not Blaze custom. what's the deal with the blaze custom versus what's listed on the dimarzio site?

Skatta, the Blaze Custom is definitely on the site. It has WAY more mids and a noticeable increase in output (410mV instead of 380 mV). The overall sound is much thicker and the 7th string has far better clarity.
