Bouzouki

well technically its an 8 string...

i was wondering, does anyone have any experience with this insturment. i am sortof considering buying one.

hi irish or greek bouzouki ?

have played a greek bouzouki its tune the same as a guitar bottom 4 strings but a tone lower.great sounds instrument and fun to play .

Greek here as well!
FYI the original Greek bouzouki started out as a six string instrument (3 double strings) but somewhere in the 60's an additional set of two strings was introduced. It is fun eihter way with a lot of original sound. I like it a lot, but then... I am Greek!

Nice to see that there are people from Greece in this forum!

Back to the subject. I think that the greek bouzouki has really poor sound. To me it's like an electric guitar played unplugged (without the lower strings). I personnaly hate it...The reason is that when I was at a cousin's place (who plays bouzouki) I gave it a try and got stuck, playing greek pop and ethnic music. After that I didn't play again because I was afraid that the Greek-pop-Alien will come out of my stomach while I'm asleep, burn my six and seven string guitars and pull the Steve Vain poster from the wall.

I have no idea about the irish bouzouki though. If you like the sound get one
