Brian May guitars red special

Does anyone have this guitar? I'm planning on getting one next year and want to get a review from someone who actually owns one or has had a chance to play one. I played a Burns Red Special a long time ago but I wasn't good enough to assess the guitar for myself

I'd love a RG with a 24" scale though.

Re: Brian May guitars red special

I have one that has been customised to resemble the 'Guild BHM' model from the early 1980s.
I have fitted a recessed 'Kahler 2300' fitted a locking nut and a set of locking tuners all hardware is now black and not chrome AND I got Max 'Ibanez King' to re fret with Jumbo Frets.
RESULT: Superb playing guitar that has a superb sound and looks great.
you wanna see a picture???

Woo thats gorgeous.

BTW, why did you mod it back to a Guild-type? The new BMGs not that good?

Re: Brian May guitars red special

Always made me wonder why guitar companies don't make 24" scale guitars.

Wonder why that is. I liked them when I was a kid, but I haven't touched one in a long time. They seemed to play easier than a Floyd guitar, but maybe it was in my head. I don't remember now.

Jaguars are 24'', and Byrdlands 23.5'' I think.

What amazes me about the red special is the nut with ... the original one is supposed to be 48mm!!!

Re: Brian May guitars red special

Sorry for reading the post late but... I' m a Jemsiter and I do own one! Mine is a 2008 BM guitar, not the Burns made. It has surprinsingly great woods (mahogany body and neck with ebony fretboard) with the original Burns trisonic pickups. It is a very resonant guitar, reproduces quite well BM tone and has a big, chunky, baseball-like neck. I can't find any use to it other than Queen covers, but... Who doesn't enjoy Queen?
