Bridge pickup for Ibanez SZ720

I am using a friends SZ720 for recording but wanted to change out the bridge pickup for something more suitable. I love the stock pickup for some styles, but it's a little too saturated for what I wanna do now. I think that I'd prefer to go with an Alnico in the bridge and maybe a little more vintage sounding but that can still do a lil harder rock fine. Can anyone recommend a good Dimarzio for this description. I have yet to try one of their pickups. Thanks!

I am currently using a Mesa F-50 head and cab now if that makes any difference...

if you want clarity try the mojoe, good seperation and great harmonics, but if you REALLY want drive, the breed, evo or x2n are great. or you can go to dimarzios site, they have a pickup finder, that might help.

Yes! I have always loved these guitars. Thanks for the suggestions. How would something like a Super Distortion or a P.A.F. sound in the bridge?

Evo2 is the best in the bridge at the moment!

Re: Bridge pickup for Ibanez SZ720

I just installed a Norton in my SZ 520. I haven't had a chance to play it loud yet, but from what I can tell so far, it seems pretty versatile.

BTW, for the SZ bridge, you'll want an F-spaced bridge pickup.

Re: Bridge pickup for Ibanez SZ720

I just got a regular mojoe in the bridge of my sz320 and the pole pieces line up perfectly, but the 520 may be different. I totaly forgot about the evo2 thats a great pup! never playd the norton but ive heard nothing bad about it.

Re: Bridge pickup for Ibanez SZ720

if you want a more traditional sound, i would really recommend the dimarzio paf or the fred. if you want a slighly more amped sound, the norton or breed. even bigger, tone zone or super distortion.

Re: Bridge pickup for Ibanez SZ720

What is the difference between the P.A.F. and Fred? Also, how does the Dimarzio P.A.F. compare to something like a '59 by Seymour Duncan?

Here's my 520, if that's what you were looking for. These are old pics when I had EMG's in it.
