Brought back to life- 540pII restoration

Got this one from swedish guitarwizard Kristian Niemann. The neck was in good condition but the body had been repainted in a thick matte black finish. I decided to restore it to original specs but first I had to figure out which color to do. After some thinking I went with desert sun yellow. One of the local car painters did the bodywork, stripped and painted it. We had some trouble to get the proper color code but it turned out pretty good. The original tremolo was badly worn so I mounted a nos black lo pro edge instead.
As for pickups, I'm normally a dimarzio guy and I also had a set of chrometop dimarzio's on a shelf. However I'm also very found of seymour duncan zebra pickups so I ordered a SD '59 and a SD distortion. I also wanted a 5-way switch for more sound options. This guitar actually came with two different pickguards, the original and one chrome finish. Obviously the volume knob had to be a beehive so I mounted a nos.
The guitar is almost ready to rock. I will take some pictures out in the sun when the guitartech is done with the setup.

Filler

White

With the chrome pickguard and chrometops

Seymour duncan '59 and distortion

Pickups, beehive knob and 5-way switch mounted

The black lopro edge tremolo

Beehive knobs

To be continued....

That looks sik with the chrome pickups and guard!! I would put a chrome edge, tuners, etc to complete that theme.

This. Holy poop. I found the part number for them a long time ago, but never thought I would be able to find them.

I have five used ones sitting around, but this is much better.

If you really want one, contact ashbass from this forum. He was trying to sell a used one on eBay recently but there were oddly no takers.

Nice work man. I have a question for that DY color. How did You manage to get that color is there some code for mixing? Im asking becouse I want to repaint my guitar too, but dont know how to get that fluo yellow. If there is some code for mixing dose colors I'd apreciate it if you could tell me how to do that.

Re: Brought back to life- 540pII restoration

Sweet! Looks a lot like the RG550RE DY, just a tiny bit greener than the classic color.
