Buddy Blaze 7-string

Hey. Buddy Blaze (Kramer Nightswan, Dime's 'Dean From Hell') is working on a 7-string model to be released at NAMM. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing! This press release went out yesterday:

Buddy Blaze Moves U.S. Production from Hawaii to Kansas
WINFIELD, KANSAS DECEMBER 6, 2011 – After six years crafting guitars in Kona, Hawaii, Buddy Blaze and his wife, Joyce are relocating their production facility to Kansas.
The couple is teaming up with Jake Willoughby, longtime retailer of Buddy Blaze Fine Stringed Instruments, to enable Blaze to increase production while reigning in shipping costs. The new factory will produce and distribute all Buddy Blaze U.S.A. guitars.
“The opportunity to centrally locate production and bring in someone with Jake’s experience was too good to pass up,” says Blaze. “As a further benefit, lower shipping costs will benefit our dealers and make us even more competitive moving forward.”
“Selling Buddy’s guitars over the years opened my eyes to what a good instrument truly is,” says Willoughby. “No other brand has ever generated the interest Blaze does. I am excited to be a part of the Blaze team.”
Buddy Blaze will debut their long awaited seven string model and more at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show January 19 in Anaheim, California.

Re: Buddy Blaze 7-string

Why am I expecting this to be a Strat with a low B?

I don't know why you would think that. Are you confusing Blaze with Blade?

This is what Buddy does:

And this pic is me and Buddy:

Spoke with Buddy the other day. I'm not gonna give away any details because the 7s will be unveiled at NAMM in a few weeks but I'm super-excited to try these out. He has some amazing stuff coming up, not just 7-strings.

Re: Buddy Blaze 7-string

Bad news: the blue one is already spoken for. So if you want to play it you'd better get to NAMM before Sunday.

Because that's when it comes home with me.

Re: Buddy Blaze 7-string

huge congratz!
why the neck pu is too far from the neck?
in my book they sound better closest as possible to the 24th fret.
nice axe, anyway!

Funny you should ask: One of the things Buddy is known for is his pickup placement (such as the middle and bridge pickups of the Shredder, with no neck pickup), and he was telling me yesterday that he feels this neck pickup is in the perfect position. I mean, if you can't actually get it AT the 24th fret, you might as well find another node, right? Because when you think about it, the field of the pickup is only nudging the edge of the 24th with conventional placement. And there's a bit of extra clarity and snap to the attack with the pickup where it is. I was able to get some absolutely nuts harmonics out of it.
