Burns USA Brian May Signature Model - Anybody know more abou

Well, this month's Guitar World had an ad for the new Burns USA Brian May signature model. I went to their website to check out some info and ordered a brochure. Looks like the model was released to the UK last year and I found a few reviews on Harmony Central. Does anybody have more info about this or seen one first-hand? The website sent me info on ordering direct (looks like they'll only be selling direct like Carvin). Price wasn't too bad ($1095 USD), but of course I'd like to PLAY the thing before I make up my mind.

I read about it on the guitarist website and also saw it in the magazine.
It is an official and VERY accurate version of the Red Special.
The magazine also made it their No.1 guitar of last year.

Definitley worth a try.

I saw and played them at the NAMM Show. *They're not horrible, but they're not quite as nice as the Guild Brian May models were. *They felt fairly solid, though I didn't care much for the neck at all. *Kinda chunky (almost like an EB/MM Axis neck but with a sticky finish). *

Thanks for the comments. I also read the review in Guitarist. Looks like a faithful attempt to recreate an amazing guitar. I was suprised also that these particular insturments are made in Korea. I know some of us tend to equate Korean-made Ibanez models with lower quality. I was wondering if that thinking is warranted in the case of the Brian May.

It's got a wilkinson trem on it though

I think it looks OK. There's one in my local shop but it's been sold so you arn't allowed to try it.

It's different and that's the main thing AND it's got 24 frets.

Pablo,

Where have you seen one of these with a Wilk trem? I played one recently in a local guitar shop and it had a standard Burns trem. A lot like a strat trem but with the adjustment screws hidden.

Matt

I meant to add, it sounded cool and was well screwed together but was a little too small for my liking. A bit strange really as Mr May himself is hardly a pixie!!

To be honest I never looked closely at it it just looked like a wilkinson at the brief cursory glance I gave it. It probably is the burns trem them

It doesn't look right though.

I'd agree. It just doesn't look quite as elegant as the original where the trem is set way back on the body. It didn't feel too good either (not particularly smooth) but then I'm used to using an Edge system!!

It also has the weirdest shaped bar I've ever seen or used. Something to do with BM always holding the bar while he is playing.

The weird bar shape is cause BM didn't like the way it looked so he took one and bent it in a vice. THen said "THAT's how I want it to look"
