buying a rg470fm and mod it....

what woods are in the 470 fm?

thinking about buying one for a cheap buck and
use a couple of good pups in it, perhaps change the trs
to a schaller rose....

is this just silly?

not silly at all, pretty smart i'd say!
the 470 is supposed to be basswood, i guess. and with a Schaller Floyd you wont need any filing job on the cavity.

go for it!

are the locking nuts any different from any other high end ibanez?

how's the neck?

would it be a plus to sand it down and oil it up?

the locking nut on the 470 is the same as on high-end Ibanez (but maybe Korean-made instead of Japan-made). just be sure the mounting screws are well-tightened (dont over-tighten) and the retainer-bar is set low enough for the strings to be laying neatly on the nut basement.

it's a Wizard II, check here for detailed info (ok it's not a 470, but scroll down for neck measurements).

not at all, most players do that. if you like it, go for it.

Why dont you get a MIK RGT (the one with the FM top) and mod it? They come with the EP, wich is an improvement over the TRS. You may actually save the money you were planning to spend on the Schaller Floyd Rose.
