Can anybody identify this RG model?

Hi there!

I need help identifying this specific RG model in the attached picture. It's second hand, quite cheap and I consider buying it. I'm still new to Ibanez guitars (got 2 RG 570 this summer). It has got the serial number F0221989, but cannot find this model in the EU nor US 2002 catalogues. It needs a little setup the owner writes, so I probably need the 7 mm truss rod socket wrench, but where can I buy it? Ibanezrules?

Many many thanx in advance.

Cool guitar.
Thank you! What trem system has it got? I'm very bad recognising them from each other? Will an Original Edge Fit with the pivot screws?

Its an rg420.. they made them in cool finishes for a while. It has a lo trsii trem, not an edge. And yes, the edge should be very near a drop in fit.

Cool! The picture is very blurrish so it's hard to see the screws "on top" pressing on the string blocks. I've read many bad things about TRS II.

I can tell by the shape of the block.

Trs' aren't good, but they aren't god awful terrible either.

Re: Can anybody recognise this RG model?

The Floyd style Gotoh should drop right in as well. Same tremolo that came on a 470 I just swapped out. The brass block was a little long though so I used a strat back plate to compensate.

Wow, I never knew Ibanez produced a blue finish like that. I must say that is a nice looking RG. Install some better hardware and it should play and sound like a dream.

Re: Can anybody recognise this RG model?

I don't know what you guys are looking at, but that guitar does not have a LO-TRS II. It has some sort of standard profile licensed Floyd Rose. Have a closer look all.

Re: Can anybody recognise this RG model?

As LonePhantom suggests, I don't know if it is a LO-TRS II. If it is / was a LO-TRS II, an Edge or Lo Pro Edge will generally NOT fit in directly. You may have to modify the trem cavity. There are quite a few threads on trying to retrofit one.

Right you are! Six of one, half dozen of the other though. Certainly not an edge, and its most definitely an rg420.
