Can DiMarzio Air Norton and Steve's Special be ring-mounted?

I'm wanting to move Steve's Special and Air Norton from my Ibanez JPM to my RG520. JPM has DIRECT-MOUNTED pickups, while RG520 has RING-MOUNTED ones. Having looked at the SS and AN a little closer, I see a couple of issues:

1. It doesn't seem that AN has any threads in the screw holes. This wasn't a problem for direct-mounting but it would be for ring-mounting. What do I do???

2. SS does appear to have threaded screw holes, but the screws previously used in RG520 (to hold V7/V8 pickups), don't appear to work with the thread size in SS. This is not standardized??? I suppose it's easy enough to go to a hardware store and find an appropriate screw, but I guess I'm surprised this doesn't work. Is it supposed to? I don't want to force things.

There are two different standard screw sizes (as far as I'm aware). DiMarzio are the smaller ones. If your backplate has no thread you can email DiMarzio (go to their contact section). They can send you some nuts which you can solder onto the backplate. I did this recently.

Thanks. I didn't think to solder a nut onto the backplate. I went to the hardware store and found a few options that might work. Had to go with a silver/metal color bolt, but that's not a big deal, as it won't really be visible underneath the rings. We'll see how this works.

It worked. The screws I used were 4-40 machine screws and nuts, and they were smaller diameter than the hole on the pickup backplate, so they could pass right through. On the underside of the plate I soldered the nut (I went with brass, thinking it would solder better than steel). Then the screw could thread right into the nut, pulling the pickup with it.

And it's completely reversible, if needed!!! :-)

The only problem I found is that the pickups are slightly crooked, side-to-side. The bridge side of the bridge pickup is leaning slightly toward the bridge itself, and the neck pickup is opposite (leaning towards the neck itself). In other words, one half of the humbucker is closer to the strings than the other half. How much of a problem do you think that would be for sound? I'm not sure why they don't want to remain centered. I may have to put something in there to prop it slightly, perhaps a piece of cardboard or something like that. Weird.
