Can I get a quick EDU on tremolos?
Every guitar I have owned has has a regular (non-Floyd Rose or whatever they're called) trem. No real issues, they're easy to restring and they stay in tune.
The guitars I'm looking at now have floating tremolos. I have heard pretty much unanimously on this forum and every other forum I've seen that the Edge III sucks, doesn't stay in tune, and continues to get worse over time.
It seems that most likely, the only other trem I will find is Edge Zero II. Is that one substantially better?
Question: How hard is it to set or restring these trems? I've never used a locking nut before (or whatever it's called when the nut has Allen wrench screws in it and the tuners don't do anything when you turn them). Are they pretty easy or is there a big learning curve? Is it easy to adjust the action yourself by turning screws in saddles or is it more complex and involved?
