Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

That's unsettling... particually as I prepare to shell out a grand or so for a 550 in the next few days.

Definitley nice to see the colors returning, but I am going to go for the 550 in this instance.

Those have been around for ages. And they do look good, actually. The colours aren't returning, this is exclusive to m123.com.

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

This candy red looks more bold and darker than the RG550 Road Flare. I prefer this color to RG550. Only the color and not the guitar

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

With some mods it would be a cool guitar. Original Floyd Rose, new pickups, maybe shave the neck down slightly (it's a Wizard II, yuk).

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

Somehow it reminds me of the Candy red RG770.

I kind of like it the way it is. I like the inf pickups, I like the Wiz II, the bridge I have not tried but it would probably suit me fine. Just the inlays I don't really care for.

Yeah, but the fact that they're obviously test marketing colours on guitars through a retailer like this like this suggests that times may be changing... we can hope

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

I'd like to think so too, but I don't think this is the way it is. As far as I know, any retailer can order a guitar in any colour they want as long as they order enough units. It's not like Ibanez made these without Music 123 asking for it to be made, so I don't think Ibanez is testing the market.

Rotti: Yeah, it looks OK man, but it has cheap pickups and a less than perfect trem. Personally I'd upgrade it. I imagine most people here would do the same.

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

Guys, I am liking the look of the axe, but please enlighten me on something.

I owned a 350 (OR 370 not quite sure) last year. It played so badly that I got rid of it within days. It played awful yet looked very cool...couldn't beleive what a toy it felt like.

Is the 350 a POS or with correct set-up etc is it a decent axe?

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

I've played a couple that were really good! Others I tried were not. It seems hit or miss. I'd go to the store and play it first, never buy cheap guitars blind, and make sure they give you the one you tried out rather than another one they have in stock.

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

So, basically, it is possible to find a really good 350 (maybe even as nice to play as a 550), you just have to be lucky....?

If that is the case then I will keep an open mind to 350s.

Re: Candy Red RG350 ...Wow

I would say there is definitely an amount of luck involved. This is always how it is with guitars produced in Korea and such places these days. Although people say the craftsmanship is improving, I have yet to be fully convinced.

It's hard to compare even a great playing 350 to the 550 as the former has a Wizard II. I'm not as keen on the WII, but it's still a fairly decent neck. The 350 is so cheap that I don't think I'd mind shaving it down a little.
