ooh damn pricey!!
it actually comes like a custom shop model even though it's stephan's sig model. I remember he told me you could ask LAG to inlay the fretboard or whatnot.
Anyway the "base" or "standard" (those words really dont fit with the value of the instrument) model is around $3000/2800Ä. A little bit too much but I can't imagine such an axe being listed at a price under $2000.

I like the shape, but I don't like the positions of the knobs, or how close together the pickups are. Make it a 27" scale at least, move the knobs, and give it a 4/3 headstock instead of a 7-in-line and I'd consider it.

the volume knob isnt that annoying as on that guitar, your picking hand is near the pickup switch, which is somewhat below the neck pickup.
the pickups are close cos of the 27 frets, so...
i can understand the nead for the scale, but not for the headstock...

LAG rules, they still have custom shops, run!

That thing looks....wrong. Everything just looks out of place and tacky.

I mean, if you're going to have a 7 string, make it scream ' this is a kick ass metal 7 stringer '

I'm not sure how you know my technique, and can therefore tell me where my picking hand would be, but I don't like the position of the selector switch either.

And you don't need to understand the headstock choice, it's just a personal preference. I think that particular guitar would look nice with one.

its just that with the guitar's body shape, you dont have so much choice than putting your right hand somewhere near the neck pickup: first because of the pickup switch, second because you'd hit the floyd or at least be annoyed by it.

i thought you wanted a different headstock for a question of tension

Nope, the headstock was simply because I think it would look nice like that, for some reason most 7-in-line headstocks look too big to me (Ibanez being the exception).

And you're only forced to put your hand there if you wear the guitar that high. I wear mine pretty low. (not uber-low, but lower than most lead guitarists) I just think the knobs and switches are in the worst possible place.

But that's just me

About that actually, sometimes slightly lower if I'm doing just rhythm stuff. Mostly somewhere between Vai and Satch (adjusting for the type of music).

Edit:

After re-watching a vid of Satch playing, I usually have it lower than that. Definitely no where near James Hetfield, but pretty low (especially my Strat).
