Carvin custom shop - need input

I recently discovered Carvin are having a sale with 50% off all their custom orders. I absolutely love all the options and finishes they do, but I've never played one and really don't have a clue as to wether they're good or not. the sale is just too attractive to miss - for some $1000 I can get:

-Quilted Maple body
-Original Floyd Rose
-2 Carvin humbuckers of my choice
-2 dual-to-sigle coil switches
-Hardrock Maple, graphite reinforced neck
-24 frets
-Abalone block inlays
-Tung Oil finish on the back of neck
-wicked colour with matching headstock
and a hardshell case!

Is that awesome or what!! i might buy one but need your opinions on playability, sound, feel, etc. Thanks!

BTW, what are active electronics? How do they work?

it's just that I wanted opinions from JEM players (since I wanted a 7D just before I discovered Carvin). I don't really know which one's best: JEM7DBK ('cause it's a JEM) or a custom-upgraded DC127 (which has better looking finish and inlays, and the price is the same or lower), but I think Carvin gave me a bit more G.A.S. than Rich:donnie:

Carvin has 50% off all guitar "options" and a hardshell case with purchase of any guitar! (Case purchase required for shipment.)

The custom guitars are not 50% off just the options!
You pay the full base price!

Carvin makes a quality product and they have stood the test of time. There are a lot of old Carvins out there that still play very well. If they have the options you are looking for in axe....go for it!

Carvins are known for great bang for the buck. *You'll never find a better deal on a new guitar. *And, you can customize it more than any other factory guitar.

They don't hold their value well, though - I dunno why but for whatever reason, there's no collectible value there. *Of course, that means if you can find a used one you like, you can get a friggin' AWESOME deal on a great axe!

My next guitar will likely be a Carvin or a Parker...

I had a DC 127 and - though it was clearly well made - I didn't like it one bit. I didn't like sterile, "CnC" feel (which I usually associate with Peavey guitars), I didn't like the tone, and I didn't like the finish. Again, well made but not for me. I still have my 7DBK, and don't ever want to give it up. It's a far more versatile and personable instrument to my mind than the DC 127.

I think Carvins are quality pieces but I can't play their necks. *The board seemed like it curved away from my fingers on the DC I played. *It's probably just because it's totally flat and I'm used to playing with a slight curve (my American Masters are the only guitars I play). *Plus, I would never buy an electric that didn't have an Edge. *If you want a guitar with a nice top that is neck thru for cheap, this is the way to go probably tho.
