I don't have a Carvin 7 but, I do have a Carvin 6. Great guitars especially for the money. Go for it.

I've heard some complaints, but a lot of good as well. Mostly complaints that the pickups aren't standard sized and to replace them requires routing.

I too own a 2027 as well as an Ibanez RG7CT. I previously owned both a Carvin DC727 and a DC747. I believe they were at on time good guitars for the money but now that other higher end Ibanez's (ie. 7620s and even the occasional Universe) are going for so cheap as well as other higher end 7's like Schecter USA 7's, I'd have a hard time buying another Carvin. In fact, about a year ago, I sold both of my Carvin's and replaced them with custom USA Schecters which were being sold for a relatively cheap price. The USA Schecter's completely smoke the Carvins and are at least as nice as the Ibanezs. My complaints about the Carvins were the pup issue that Two Hands mentioned as well as just a general chintzy feel. The frets were jagged and protruded passed the fretboard edge on both guitars. The finish appeared to be ultra-thin. If you can score one real cheap, I'd go for it as they're not bad guitars - just make sure you keep an eye out for other deals.

i was always curious about the 727's as well .. i have a rg8527 and i wondered how they compared.. i thought about buying one till i looked at the pickups and it didn't seem like you could change them to other brands. i liked the idea of an alder body and neck through though.. it seems mahogany is quite muddy sounding. i think i will probably stick to my ibanezes though.

hey viper.. how much you selling that 7620 for??

it's going on an auction for less than 500$, around 5000,- kroner.
