Thumbs up Cheating on Ibanez: NGD - PRS MEQ

I try to get a guitar to commemorate every major life event. After some life-changing job news I had to treat myself to some epic PRS goodness.

Some web searches and blessing from the missus later, NGD: my PRS Modern Eagle Quatro hard tail in Faded Blue Burst.
Character top with mape heart wood that doesn't take stains evenly ("unique visual character" - some hate it, I love it, and mine is by far not an extreme example), Indian rosewood neck, 7.6 lb of resonance, I am always surprised by how light it feels. Not much playtime yet, but definitely some single-coil flavors in the 53/10 pickups, rings like a bell. I LOVE the 3-way switch, smooth neck, and that it's finally a PRS with jumbo-ish fretwire. The setup was grand-pa style out of the box, but easily tweaked. The Paisley case just adds to the eye candy.

But enough babbling, pix!

Gorgeous guitar, congrats.

Can you get them with dots instead of the birds?

Only with the fancy birds I think. But you can always go private stock .

I love it! Big fan of the Quatro, but prefer the trem myself. Nice job!

Re: Cheating on Ibanez: NGD - PRS MEQ

This axe really is something else. The neck is probably the most responsive to truss rod adjustments that I have ever had. The neck is pretty solid in thickness but doesnt feel like a baseball bat, very balanced and the jumbo-ish frets do their part for playability. Upper fret access is stellar, and the control layout is ergonomically well done for me, nothing is in the way.

The pickups are fairly low/mid output. Paired with the crazy resonance of the guitar strung with 10so and the 25 in scale length you can get some almost semi-acoustic tones out of it. It takes well to overdrive, and I dont agree with folks who say this thing cant do metal - all a matter of amp/pedal adjusting.
