Check out this RG 550 Deal....

I bought another Ibanez RG from Dave's Guitar's in LaCrosse,Wisconsin this past week....thought I'd relay my experience....

I needed a drop d guitar to use alongside my workhorse 91' Ibanez RG 550 dx.I knew a 550 was the only way to go...

I found a very good condition Ibanez RG 550,an 89' model,V1 & V2 pickups,original edge...you know the drill.
$195 w/ hardshell case.
Pretty much the standard for used guitars at Dave's.I bought a 7620 w/ Universe case for $250 last year.....

Anyhoo...

I plunked down the cash, only to find they had "lost" the original hardshell case.I figured cool...now I'll get it even cheaper.
Nope.Instead they gave me a BRAND NEW RG140c Ibanez hardshell case.

Wait there's more...
I noticed there was a "miniscule" ammount of buzzing/fret out around the 12th position so I asked if they might do a fret level on JUST the middle of the neck.
So I got a free fret level on ENTIRE fretboard.
Plus they set it up for me for free &installed BRAND NEW screws for the pickguard....for FREE!!!

I just about crapped my damn pants.
Dave's always have done right by me,but Jesus this was just insane!!!

All that for $195.....
:P

Figured someone might appreciate this story...

Check out their website
www.davesguitar.com

He's got a store in Eau Claire,Wisconsin & LaCrosse Wisconsin.

He ALWAYS has a couple used Ibanez's in the used section,
although I don't know if they post them on the website.
I've never seen a used Ibanez go for more than around $300 in ANY condition.
I've seen em' as low as $150 w/o case...
Did I mention I bought a 7620 w/ Universe case last Christmas for like $295..... :P

However I don't recall ever seeing an RG 421.....

Usually everytime I go up there with $$ in hand they won't have crap...
However the other 95% of the time when I'm flat broke and I decide to go there is when they have all the near mint 550's (usually $250 w/ case) or a rare 560.

If you want I can keep an eye out for ya'.
I'm there about every couple of weeks(at least )

Granted I do blow alot of $$ in their store,
but they pretty much do that for anybody.

Not the BJ,that is,but the kick ass customer service.

The BJ I'm pretty sure I get exclusively...

Hey I've had guitar stores try to charge me for breathing on my guitar.

The guitar store in my hometown actually tried to charge me $15 bucks for raising the action on my floyd rose about one allen wrench turn.

I'm all aboot' free stuff,no matter how insignifigant.
When you are a musician for a living $2 is $2.
But I suppose out of context that did sound a wee bit silly...

Hey Ibanezer no 421,but they still had the other RG 550.
I'll keep looking.

Best part is I used it live last weekend & everything about it is flawless.
It's like an 89' or 88' & I've bought new guitars mail order that were'nt in this good of shape.
The old shool original edge & V1&V2 p/u's are a nice contrast from my newer model 550ltd that has the V7 & V8's & the LoPro.

Now I just have to decide what kind of pickguard to get for it...
Any suggestions?

i've checked their website...
and seems they are selling their guitars for a higher price than some other websites.
may be they sell their guitars a LOT cheaper in stores?

From what I've seen their Ibanez line(the new stuff) is pretty comprobable
to the Musician's Friend & Music 123 caliber.
Their lower end PRS's are the same way.
Lots of ULTRA pricey Gibson/Fender/PRS stuff.
Plus I'm pretty sure they will match prices if it's something they regularly carry.

However it's their used geetars that are the real deals.
They deal largely in the over the top REDICULOUS Gibson/PRS $1500-$5000 market that they don't really care so much about not making a whole lot on used Japanese guitars.

I guess I never checked much with their online prices...might actually be cheaper in the store....
Were you looking for a new 421 or a used one?

Man, that amazes me, I was in Daves guitar store last fall and the prices were ridiculous. The 2 Ibanez's they had were triple what they should be, and the one Guitar I inquired about, they told me their best cash price and it was about $300 higher than MSRP. I walked out of there thinking, gorgeous guitars, great collection, but WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY to much money. They had a Guild 12 string that was about $200 overpriced but I still wish I'd bought it. Good to hear that they have the odd deal, what bothered me was, they best deal cash price on the ESP I looked at was $50 less than their tagged price which was [email protected]

apparently we can't even say [email protected] without the curse filter blocking it, that's f*cking [email protected]
