I wonder why he doesn't like locking nuts.

Maybe because it sounds better without one? Dunno.

That's a possibility. I read an interview online somewhere where David Gilmour's guitar tech said he tried a double lock when they first came out but didn't use it for long because he thought it deadened his sound.
I personally don't notice a difference but that's just me.

Re: Chris Broderick LACS = OMGZ

Tony MacAlpine is the same -- some of his guitars don't have lock nuts cause he says it kills the tone.

Re: Chris Broderick LACS = OMGZ

IMO, if you're using a floyd and the locking tunners, you will need ROLLER NUT! Am i right?
That custom RGA is the best 7 string after UVMC.

Locking nut "kills tone"? Oh brother. People can convince themselves to hear anything they want I suppose.

Re: Chris Broderick LACS = OMGZ

This is a really beautiful guitar. Two thumbs up!!

As far as if the locking nuts kill the tone, I cannot hear the difference but it could be probably me. I suppose players like Chris hear something that they like without the locking nut. I'm not at this level and probably I will never reach it.

Well, unfortunately it's your word against a ridiculously skilled piano and guitar virtuoso's.

So... where are your CD's, and what have you done to convince us that your ear is better than Tony MacAlpine's?
