colour identification needed

always been an Ibanez guy (damn nearly 20 years now!!!)

had a Floral pattern Jem in the early-mid 90's but the neck got a crack so I took the best offer I could get

had a PGM 30 and sold it when I had my first son

bought a RGt42dx-fm in January...sold it in June (questioning Ibanez quality)

finally found the right one, the RG550 I've always wanted (neck is in perfect condition, body has minor cosmetic wear, trem is looking tired) but I don't have a clue as to what colour code it is. The seller said Coral Mist Metallic but I'm not sure about that. so anybody know? 1990 RG550 made in Japan

dropping in Tone Zone and Air Norton this weekend and sanded the finish off the back of the neck and oiled it (like my beloved Wolfgang that gets absolutely no attention nowadays) and getting new Edge from Ibanez Rules next week hopefully.

Coral Mist Metallic is a color choice in the '90 Catalog, but it's a shade of red..almost like a "kool-aid" red.

Here's the whole 1990 catalog, thanks to Rich~

Re: colour identification needed

when all else fails, check the catalog.

under the 550, a color option is CM. coral mist, which is red..

edit: beaten. and wrong.

Re: colour identification needed

Yea but that doesn't help him, CM is RED. Obviosuly his is green, and their are NO green finishes listed in the catalog for that year. I too have had one this color, with the white pickguard like his, I bought it from a guy in Japan, and it even had a matching headstock, although I have NEVER seen this color in an ibanez catalog....not sure what the deal is?

Re: colour identification needed

pic may be a little misleading it's really more bluish grey than green
and the headstalk is standard black. maybe that helps a little...maybe not

thanks for the responses so far

Re: colour identification needed

Could be a refinish (check the trem cavity for older colors), or, a japan model... white guards werent on the 1990 catalog either...

in either case, she looks mighty fine

Re: colour identification needed

ooh, didn't someone else have this same issue on here before?

if not, i still wouldn't imagine anything called "coral mist" to be red. in fact, i'd imagine that it would be exactly the color of this guitar.

it's interesting that in later years, the CM code means crimson metallic, which actually should be red, instead of coral.
