the colour of the logo

someone said that the colour of the ibanez logo means something, they said silver ones were special or something. my new RG550 has a silverish logo, does that mean anything, or were they all like that? its a 1990's one i think, with the maple fretboard and the V1 and V2

Re: the colour of the logo

As far as I know it doesnt mean anything other than to match the colors (paint / hardware, etc.) I mean - my 7vwh has Gold Logo (to match hardware) My vsbl has a silver logo...the FP's have a pink logo....all are Jems All match very well

Funny, my RG 7620s and S 7420 have a nice shiny chrome logo, where as my UV7PWH has a black logo that can easily rub away but Im extra careful with it.

Re: the colour of the logo

In the early days they painted the logo above the headstock finish. Grey on black or dark colors, black on lighter colors.

Sometime around 1996-1997 they started putting the logo under the finish, white paint on the Korean models, and Chrome "Ibanez" with a white/grey line on the Japanese ones.

Of course, that changed again in 2003 when all the MIJ guitars went Prestige.

Exactly. My first Ibanez was an RG 450 DX WH back in 1996. That had the same logo as my PWH.
I like the logos from '96-'97 on. The logo UNDER the finish.

My '94 RG550EG has the chrome logo with white swoosh under the finish.

Re: the colour of the logo

Ooh, I like that color.

All my old RG necks have the grey logo, no matter what the hardware is. My newer RG has gold hardware and a silver logo.

Re: the colour of the logo

Ah, so it was the first year of Korean RG models(1994) then that they did the chrome on the MIJ ones. Knew it was mid 90's but wasn't 100% sure of the year.
