Consensus on Korean-Prestiges

So what is the consensus and personal experience on Korean prestiges, do they hold the candle to the Japanese J Craft versions? Did Korea step up their game in recent years ?
Need some facts on this. Thanks!

Re: Consensus on Korean-Prestiges

the Korean Prestige experiment ~2005 was short lived with some S/SZ models for obvious reasons. Noone wanted non-Fujigen made "Prestige" axes. I can't think of one reason to buy a Korean Ibanez actually but YMMV.

Well u have first hand experience? I want to know besides the "name stamped on the back."
Psychologically, of course there's a big impact. But what about real world quality? That's what I want to know.

Re: Consensus on Korean-Prestiges

Some in-store only. I always wanted a Ghostrider and as appealing as they looked on paper & even in person the MIK always felt wrong. It's subjective sure and hard to put into words but rather costly relative to what you are holding & playing with your eyes closed. There was always a better alternate from ibanez, used or new. You want a fixed archtop get an Artist MIJ for example not SZ MIK.

Try for yourself and then post back with your experience. You'd be taking a huge risk buying one online IMHO sight unseen but maybe the person paid for pro setup, fret tweaks and if they have a trem you don't mind the ZR (not Edge typically). Resale value is terrible of course (no demand). Good luck.

Re: Consensus on Korean-Prestiges

Well, if you put your hands on it and it "felt wrong" that's really MOST of the cost of the guitar. You can always change a sound of a guitar easily (I'm not believer in tonewood) but the feel is where 90% of it is.

Well that's quite disappointing to me! Resale value ofc is important, even if its buried with me in my coffin :P
Which models are the Korean prestiges anyways of the S and RG ones? Which numbers do i look for to even find them?

my feel and your feel and the next guy's feel differ but you won't find many Korean Prestige axes thankfully. These are built by Cort for Ibanez for the S/SZ/SC 2005 for 2-3 years (with low production counts i'd assume they were not cheap).
