Couple of pics of my RGA121

I picked up this used RGA a couple weeks ago for a good price, and am finally able to get some pics up. It's in great shape, has one small ding on the inside curve of the upper horn.

I changed out the pickups to some blk/crm breeds. I got the idea for the colors from some other members here. I think it turned out pretty good.

Before:

After:

I'm really digging the sound of the bridge pickup, but I'm not so sure about the neck. It just sounds like a muffled version of the bridge.

As far as the setup, the only major problem was that the nut slots weren't cut anywhere near deep enough. Action at the first fret was way high. After cutting the slots and some truss rod and intonation adjustments, everything is good. I was able to intonate the 6th string (10-52 set), but the saddle is all the way south.

Here's an after pic of the nut:

I'll probably try a different pickup in the neck, but all in all this guitar sounds good and feels great. Best guitar purchase I've made yet!

Yeah, I stole your idea for the color combo.
I'm in love with Breed bridge. It just has a nice creamy tone that quite a departure from the Evo I've got in my 1570. I think I'm going to change the Breed neck though. There's just not enough distinction between the two pickups for me.

Another thing, I noticed that the neck on this guitar feels beefier than my 1570, although they're both suppose to be wizard profiles. This one just feels better. Anybody else notice this that has these guitars?

Re: Couple of pics of my RGA121

I didn't know they considered the neck profile a Wizard? It isn't as thin but feels so smooth in my hands - I love it!!

Glad I helped inspire but I have to say I saw it somehwere else before I did it to mine.

I need to check out a breed bridge pup again. It has been too many years since I owned my DBK to remember it well enough. Now I just have to figure out which axe will get one installed?

Breeds, they seem to work in mahogany.

Really? It feels exactly like a wizard to me.

Re: Couple of pics of my RGA121

Oh, man I loved the Breed in the neck on the RGA121 I had. It was the best neck sound I'd ever heard. I had an X2N in the bridge and that combo was the bee's knees.

Re: Couple of pics of my RGA121

I appreciate the comments.

It's not that I don't like the sound of the Breed neck. There's just not enough contrast to the Breed bridge for my personal taste. What I'll probably do is pair it up with a different bridge pickup in a different guitar.
