Crazy finished RG as replacement for LTD

Hi everybody,

I didn't know where to put it, so I'm posting it here.

I'm looking to replace my LTD Alexi 600 with an Ibanez guitar. Since I'm new to that topic and have never owned an Ibanez, I do not know a lot about good builds, good quality and possibilities.

Those are the specs and key factors I'm looking for:

  • same or better quality as LTD
  • willing to spend no more than €650 (so EU/UK help is very much appreciated)
  • fixed bridge
  • rg/jem style
  • crazy colors (like the anniversery series for example)
  • H/H or H/S/H PU configuration
  • can be a 7 string as well (although there arent a lot of fixed bridges out there)
The part I'm most interested in is the built quality. Cause if I know which ones are equal to the one I own then I could look for used ones as well.

I already looked at the RG 1451 or 1421 and find them quite interesting, although the RG 1451 isn't too colorful.

Is there something like that on the market?

Thanks for your input!

Hello!

Maybe you may want to check our the premium line? RG921QMF is the model. RG body with fixed bridge, 2 humbuckers and the colours they come in looks bright and cool! There are seven strings as well as those with the edge zero 2. I personally like the fixed bridge ones. Just an idea!

I like the little cutaway on the Alexi to give better fret access. I haven't ever played one, though, but I like the design from the pics.

I like the blue one. It really does look nice.

I like the color, but I doubt it's in the same league as the Alexi 600.

Oh don't get me wrong! It is an awesome guitar, and I did like it for the music I used to play. But now I want to have something more flexible, yet powerful, that doesn't take ages to change strings or even detune.
Btw, if you're interested ...

Re: Crazy finished RG as replacement for LTD

Here in the states the Lexi goes for $1000 new, but your only looking to spend $840 (650 euros). This is a hard task with the options your looking for.

For new guitars your only choices are the RG821 and the RG3521 in Germany (both come in black only). If you can source guitars outside Germany, you have the additional option of the RG921QM (as mentioned before).

For used guitars I would look at the RG7621 for the best bang for your buck (also known as the RG15271 Prestige from 2003). They only came in black, but for what you'd save on price you can spend on a new color paint. The Prestige RGA321F in Blueberry burst is another option. It's a damn nice guitar.

The Alexi is a neck-thru so if that's important and you still need a fixed bridge, the RGT6EXFX is about your only choice....again it only came in black.

If your willing to go with a trem and block it, There will be a WORLD of great guitars in your price range and fit the rest of your wish list.

I'm actually drawn towards the RG7621 or the RG921QM. I guess it'll come down to how much I can sell the Alexi for (here it goes for around 1,100 new, so $1,420). I actually have a used RG7621 in my mind, but as I said I need to sell the Alexi first, which seems kinda hard 'cause there isn't much demand right now.

How much is the RGA321F going used for?

Anyway thanks for the Input, it's been a good help

Re: Crazy finished RG as replacement for LTD

You very welcome.......the 7621 would be a GREAT choice. it's a monster of a guitar and extremely well built!!!

The last RGA321 I saw on ebay sold for $1200-$1250 USD (can't remember) but I've seen them go for less. You should be able to find one in the $1000 range (775 euros).

The RGA121 (same guitar but with no crazy colors) goes for between $500 and $750.

It's literally the exact same guitar as the RGA321. It's a Prestige as well.
