Re: Custom Fabric-topped Ibanez

Pretty original idea, doing your own fabric-top Ibanez, I'll give ya that. The green one's fretboard is a desert though =[

Re: Custom Fabric-topped Ibanez

Nice looking guitars, man! You did good. I like the idea of a swirl without actually having to swirl anything. I did a fabric finish on my '84 Destroyer about 4 years ago that looks pretty cool. Here's a pic of it:

You're right, clearcoating these things is a MAJOR PITA. I used a sealer first, then sanded, then probably 10 seperate coats of rattlecan clear, sanding in between. I never did get the fabric txture completely smooth. It is really rewarding when it's done though, isn't it?

Re: Custom Fabric-topped Ibanez

Very Nice work, djohns!

I can't believe the timing of the resurrection of this post! I just bought 2yds each of the same green and blue swirl fabric and started stripping another 1570. Haven't decided which (green or blue) to do yet... May post another poll and let jemsite users decide

Again, very nice work!
