Question Custom Fender color?

Does anybody know how much getting a non-standard color (meaning one from the color chart to one's liking) on a Fender guitar costs? What the upcharge is? I think I remember reading somewhere that is was $50, but I'm not sure.

Re: Custom Fender color?

I didn't know Fender offered non-standard colors on standard guitars... I thought the only upcharge really is if you want a color that requires a different body wood (e.g. usually bursts require ash instead of alder).

Re: Custom Fender color?

I wasn't aware of this being an option (outside of the Custom Shop) either, but if it is an option, i'd be very interested. I seriously doubt they would do it for as little as $50 though. It would cost them more than that to do the setup. Maybe if it is a color actively being used on another line (which would cost less in setup/changeover). If you do find an answer, please let us know.

Re: Custom Fender color?

I've been looking around some more, in order to find out. And I found this topic on the Fender forum.

So it seems it's only available through the custom shop, is expensive and will take forever.

I've also e-mailed a Dutch Fender dealer but they haven't replied yet. I'll let you know what they say.
