Exclamation Custom RG is starting to look like a guitar (pics)

Been sanding the body and neck. The back of the body's still to be sanded. (Click the images to get 'em bigger)

Put some mahogany laquer stuff (what's it called, dunno...) I'll put it on the body as well.

Then I wanted to see, how it'd be like when everything's together.

Comments are welcome!

Looking good... looks like a lot of hard work!

Perhaps a lighter stain for the body? That brown is pretty intense... might be a bit overpowering on the body.

Also, it's good that you have the option of pickguard/no pickguard. See what looks best after you've stained and lacquered the body...

That stain's going to be way too dark for that body IMO.

Yes. The sanding's quite a job. Even with a machine and 40 grit sandpaper. But the results
are better than with a heat gun IMO.

I'm already doing the staining for the body. And it DOES look good. Pics a bit later!

Pics of the body with the first stain dried for an hour in front of a fan:

A pic with everything. A bit shaken and unfocused pic, sorry :-)

EDIT: I'm staining the front first, then the sides and the back for the last.

Thanks!

Too bad, that the fretboard's rosewood is a bit lighter rosewood than on my other guitars.

Damn... I went a bit too far with the body and it's quite brown Gotta sand it again and redo it. The front, I mean. The back's really nice..

Front (Way too brown):

Back (A lot nicer):

When you first started taking the paint off (I'm assuming you bought the body already painted?) did you use any paint remover or did you just start sanding?

Just sanding.

I'm startting to like to colour after all. Maybe it just needs some bright colors, like green and yellow for pups/knobs. Don't know.

what you need to so man is to find someone who knows how to clear coat, local auto body shop should help, and have them put about 5 layers of clear on that bad boy and it will come out looking like a 5,000 dollar piece of furniture i did it to an 80's schecter and it looked gorgeous you can see yourself in the stain and it will look much more put together,
